I wait at the dropped crossing in Canute Road. It’s wet, so there is a huge puddle in the kerb that I have to wade through. I start to walk west on the pavement, avoiding the randomly placed poles and cabinets that clog it up. I dodge the dog waste that remains day after day. As I get to the bus shelter, a bus draws up and splashes the ever present puddle onto the waiting queue.
